She is such a sweet pumpkin. When she’s not biting people.
The ongoing construction behind my apartment. It’s fascinating to see an old garment manufacturing facility turn into something else (presumably all office spaces) right before my eyes. This isn’t the same neighborhood I moved into 7+ years ago. Not at all.

I first discovered this perfume shop when my friend, Janet, was looking for a special fragrance to wear for her wedding. At first, I spotted their packaging in the window display and I thought she was taking me to a a candy store. You see, they package their perfumes to look like candies, specifically, candies I remember enjoying when I was in Paris. When we stepped inside, I was a little disappointed to discover that we were not, in fact, in a candy store. Since I am hyper-sensitive to smells, I’m generally not a huge fan of perfume, and certainly not a fan of perfume stores, so my first inclination was to turn around and just wait outside. But this place was different. My nostrils were not assaulted with a cloud of headache-inducing chemicals when I walked in. In fact, I really couldn’t detect the smell of perfume at all. The air was clean and fresh. We spent the better part of an hour in the store, sampling different perfumes and talking about each scent with the lovely woman who was helping us. And the fragrances they offer… just… wow. Subtle and rich and beautiful. Of all the fragrances we sampled that day, I can only think of 2 that I didn’t really care for. And since I generally dislike all perfume, that’s saying quite a lot. I will sometimes receive samples of new fragrances in the mail, and I actually get excited to try them. Here’s a shot of the candy-like packaging; isn’t is great?

That packaging is awesome! I’d love to see how they have the store merchandised.
Or, at least when they burn out in my apartment. My ceilings are very high, so changing a lightbulb requires bringing in the heavy artillery – the tall ladder. From the scary, scary basement. And I have to climb to the very top of the tall ladder to reach this fixture (which is original to the space and I LOVE it!). Looks like I have a nice weekend project for myself.

Love the title of this post and the picture is beautiful…can I say that about light bulbs?
Hi Sherri! Long time no lurk (think way back to The Amazing Race tryout days). So far as hard to reach light bulbs, check out BrylaneHome’s website and search for High Reach Ceiling Kit, Item number 1545-03274-1237. I’d put the link, but don’t want the comment software to peg me as a spammer. About thirty bucks. I’m sure there are more/different ones out there. I just did a Google shopping search. This one had a bunch of attachments to do things like keep the dust off your cool light fixture. Hope all is well. Love your photos. -Scott
I love rainy evenings, which is good because we’ve had a LOT of them over the past few weeks. I took a couple of snaps outside one of my windows tonight – I love the way the streetlights and the traffic signal cast light into my room.

I love this image. It truly reminds me of a rainy afternoon where you just lay around the house and read a great romance novel. I love how you were able to capture the light in the droplets of light. Well Done!
