I couldn’t resist this gorgeous weather we had in the city today, so I headed outside for a day-long stroll.  First I grabbed a bagel from my favorite bagel place, Tony Bagelz, then I walked through Gowanus, Carroll Gardens, the Columbia Street waterfront, Brooklyn Heights and to the new Brooklyn Bridge Park where I spent the better part of the afternoon walking around and people-watching.

Then I wandered around DUMBO and across the Brooklyn Bridge, which is undergoing a facelift over the next 4 years.

Finally, I headed into lower Manhattan, where I tracked down the Wafels & Dinges truck and had my favorite, the Liege wafel with Spekuloos and strawberreis. YUM!

What a spectacular day! Autumn is my favorite time to be in NYC and I’m looking forward to having many more spontaneous adventures.

Recently, NYC (specifically Brooklyn and Queens) experienced quite a storm. I was in Manhattan in the NY Times Building at the time, and took this shot shortly after the storm passed through. This is the view looking towards the south, down 8th Avenue.  I took this shot with my Droid!

This cute little squirrel was having himself a snack out on my neighbor’s deck. He wasn’t even bothered by my camera.

Anyone who knows me is aware that Marathon Sunday is my absolute favorite day of the year to be in NYC.  The city is inevitably at its autumn peak, the weather seems to always cooperate, the residents seem to all come out to enjoy their city and the marathon creates a sense of excitement unrivaled by any other event.

After watching the race for a few hours, we decided to walk across the park to see some of the finish area.  While we were walking, we spotted the horse trailers for the NYPD mounted unit.  Something you don’t see every day in the middle of Central Park.  I chose this as my daily photo today because it’s not your typical marathon shot.

If you ever get a chance to visit NYC one the first Sunday of November, DO IT!  There’s no better time to experience the city.

Quite possibly my favorite thing in the entire city to shoot. This is an older photo, but one of my faves. Shot in the dead of winter and there was just something about the light that cast all these wonderful colors everywhere.

This is my dear friend and fellow photographer, Evgenia Eliseeva. We met at Jerry Ghionis‘ workshop in Paris last year (where I took this photo), became instant friends and had all sorts of crazy adventures in Paris.  She’s a remarkably talented person and I feel honored to be her friend.

Carrie was one of my very first subjects as a professional photographer.  I haven’t looked through the images from that shoot for a couple of years and it was kind of cool to go back and see that my style of shooting really hasn’t changed much since then.  My technique and my skills have improved by leaps and bounds, but the images still feel the same.  And I’m really proud of that.
