About Me

SherriJust a small town girl, livin’ in a lonely world – she took the midnight train goin’ anywhere.  OK, so Journey didn’t really sing that song about me (although Steve Perry did sing to me telling me to hold on… ).

I did grow up in a small, rural town in north central Ohio and still hold on to those famous Midwestern sensibilities (and I’m even a licensed grain grader!).  I wasn’t meant for small towns though, so I packed up and headed to the vast metropolis of Kankakee, IL when the time came to head off to college.  I stayed there for 3 awesome years and walked away with a BA in political science and economics and then it was off to Washington, DC I went to put it to good use.  It didn’t take me long, however, to realize that I didn’t want a career burning the candle at both ends at some political think tank, so I started working as a paralegal while I decided whether law school was right for me (thankfully, I decided that it wasn’t).  I bounced around between Washington, DC and Bethesda, MD for 5 years before I decided that New York was where I was really meant to be.

I do still work full-time as a paralegal and I actually really do enjoy it.  But I also enjoy photography and I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to pursue it professionally.  I currently live in Brooklyn with my 2 cats, Stella and Rufus, and I can’t imagine anywhere else I’d rather be.

I use the best equipment I can get my hands on.  I am currently shooting entirely in digital, but I would like to experiment with film, particularly medium format, for some of my studio work.

For those of you who are interested in the geekier aspect of things, below I’ve listed just a few of my favorite tools.
